Common Questions

I'm not a Catholic - am I welcome?

Absolutely. We believe the invitation of Jesus is for everyone! We would love to welcome you and answer any questions you may have.

I haven't been to Church in a long time - am I welcome?

Yes! We often have people visit who are not Christians or who have not practiced their faith for a long time. Our belief is that the messages conveyed at St Scholastica's provide value for all people. You might not be familiar initially with what is happening in our Mass but we try to make everyone feel comfortable and at home!

What happens during Mass?

All our Masses (services) incorporate prayer, readings from the Bible, a homily (message), receiving Jesus in the Eucharist, and great music. Our weekend Masses are usually about 50-70 mins in length.

Do I have to participate?

We want you to feel welcome to come along and join us at Mass without feeling concerned about being asked to do anything. You can leave whenever you like and while you can remain anonymous, we encourage you to introduce yourself to one of the priests, welcome team or parishioners - we look forward to meeting and connecting with you.

Will I be asked to give money?

During Mass we provide the opportunity for regular parishioners to help support our priests and parish financially. You are not required to give anything.

Not ready for Mass?

If you're not ready for Mass, consider joining our next Alpha Course, which is a relaxed, social setting for exploring Jesus and the Christian faith - see here for next course.
